Should you encounter problems with the installation procedure, please check the following:
For errors occurring after submitting Step 1:
- Check entries for Directory A and B. They should be directories that already exist and must allow the script to create sub-directories within these directories.
- Some installations of PHP limit file access to certain directories. To check this setting, click on the PHP settings link at the bottom of each installer script page. The setting is open_basedir. If there is a value specified for this setting, you will need to set both directories within this directory structure.
- If safe mode is enabled in your PHP environment, your scripts MUST run under the script owner UID, which is the preferred state in any circumstance. In some PHP environments, this may not be the case. In this event, no PHP script can facilitate reading and writing of files. Contact your system administrator to correct the problem. This problem will become evident if you have set the permissions of the main directories to 777 and the script is still not able to create the necessary directories.
- Window users must use the unix-style slash--"/"--for directory paths.
- If you are not sure of the directory path to use, the full path to the install script is displayed in step 1. Using this path as a reference point, specify the desired path to both Directory A and B. The corresponding URL to the install script path, will be what you entered in to run it.
- Be sure to supply entries for all fields. They are all required fields.
- The site prefix can be any 3 letters or numbers, but do not begin with a number and do not use any special characters, as it will become part of file names.
- Enter passwords between 8-10 characters.
Step 2:
- It is recommended you use the directory locations generated by the installer script. You may override these settings in page 2. (See directory structure in the related items below. These directories may or may not already exist. If they do not exist, the script will attempt to create them, so all parent directories must exist and be write-enabled.
- If the script encounters difficulties creating directories, check the suggestions from step 1.
- Window users must use the unix-style slash--"/"--for directory paths.
Step 3:
- At initial offering, only the MySQL interface is available.
- For database troubleshooting, see Database Issues in the related items below.
- In this step, the script attempts to open an FTP connection to the 5th Avenue download site. If you are getting "Could not open Download site", check the status of the 5th Avenue Site, by clicking HERE. For other connection errors, see Connection Errors below.
- Your installation script expires in 30 days. This is to ensure you have the most current version, in case changes need to be made.
- If you have already downloaded an installed a trial version already, for this URL, and that trial has expired, you will not be able to install again. Should you need to extend this trial period, contact 5th Avenue Sales .
Step 4:
- During Step 4, the script will download the remainder of the necessary components. The length this will take will depend on your connection speeds, internet traffic, etc. The script will return to step 4, after 1 minute to display the progress. Press the continue button each time until you are taken to Step 5, which will indicate the process has been completed. For connectivity problems encountered in this step, please refer to Step 3. For problems saving or writing files, refer to Step 1.
Step 5:
- Step 5 is the final page. On this page is the link to "quick start" and the setup wizards. Setup wizards can be bypassed when needing a quick tour of the product, but the cart will not be fully functional until email, freight, tax, and payment methods have been set up.
